Experiential residency launched in city
India, March 26 -- In a first-of-its-kind initiative, a five-day 'artists-in-residence' experience was launched in Chandigarh on Wednesday, bringing together four influential artists from across the country to create artworks live before an audience.
Scheduled from March 25 to March 29 at 105 Arts gallery in Sector 11, the event reimagines the traditional exhibition format by transforming the space into a dynamic and evolving creative hub. Visitors, including students and art patrons, will have the opportunity to witness the artistic process in real time as the artists - Hemant Dhane, Susmita Debnath Amol Pawar and Rafiuddin - conceptualise, experiment and execute their works.
The residency will run daily from 12pm to 6pm, allowing attendees to engage closely with the artists. The event also encourages visitors to document the experience through photography and reels, offering a participatory dimension to the showcase.
"This is not merely an exhibition but an experience," said Mehak Bhan, founder of 105 Arts gallery and curator of the event. "The gallery is not a stage; it is a sanctuary of becoming. With this first edition of the residency, we bring together four distinct artistic voices, united by their commitment to the rigour and poetry of their craft," she added.
Marking the culmination of the residency, a 'poetry hour' will be held on March 29 from 5pm to 6pm, featuring city-based poetesses Amy Singh and Sonia Chauhan. HTC...
