Karnal, April 29 -- Three people, including an elderly couple, died after the car they were travelling in met with an accident near Khanpur Koliyan village on NH-44 in Kurukshetra on Tuesday, said police. The deceased, identified as Brij Bhushan, 83, his wife Kanta, 80 and their driver, Bharat, all from Nangloi area in Delhi, they added. Police said the incident happend when the car reportedly hit the divider near Khanpur Koliyan village on NH-44 in Kurukshetra. Police said that they all were travelling to Chandigarh in their Delhi-registered Honda Amaze to meet some relative when the accident happened. A police team from Dial 112 and Thaesar Sadar police station reached the spot and sent the bodies to the civil hospital. Eight persons, including a child, were injured when a private bus hit a stationary truck on the Talwara-Mukerian road in Hoshiarpur district on Tuesday. The truck was heading towards Hajipur after unloading goods in Talwara when driver Tara Chand took a halt at the roadside near Jhir Da Khooh as, according to the driver, he was unwell. While he was resting inside the vehicle, a "speeding" bus coming from Talwara side hit the truck from the rear side. At least eight bus passengers and the driver sustained injuries. Police officials said they, with the help of local residents, took the injured to the Mukerian civil hospital. Talwara station house officer Satpal Singh said an FIR was registered against the bus driver and necessary action was being taken....
