Karnal, April 4 -- Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee's (HSGMC's) co-opted member and former president of the ad-hoc committee Baljit Singh Daduwal, on Friday said that Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami should hand over the management of Kurukshetra's Miri Piri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research to Haryana. Daduwal's remarks comes after the SGPC, led by Dhami, decided to stage a protest at the institute on April 7 against police action taken against its 20 members, who were booked on March 28 following the March 20 face-off with HSGMC leaders. SGPC has also demanded action on a complaint filed against HSGMC leaders including Daduwal for trying to take possession of the hospital run by the SGPC. On Friday, Daduwal said, "We came to know that Dhami will be visiting the institute on April 7. It would be commendable if Dhami himself relinquishes the 'illegal control' and hands over the keys to the management of the HSGMC and the Sikh sangat of Haryana." He said if this happens, they will honour the SGPC chief during his return in Ambala as a mark of respect for returning "Haryana's rightful control" with dignity. Daduwal also said that since a case related to the institute was pending before the Punjab and Haryana high court, it would soon be resolved legally and brought under HSGMC management. "To ensure strict action against the accused booked on March 28, a high-level delegation also met the Kurukshetra SP demanding strict legal action and early arrest of those involved," he said. htc...
