India, Aug. 28 -- S inger Udit Narayan Jha says the devastation caused by the Nepal-Tibet flash floods "hits home", as several celebrities, especially those with ties to Nepal, joined calls for prayers and relief for those affected. A catastrophic glacial collapse triggered flash floods across the Himalayan border region on Wednesday, killing scores and leaving hundreds, including foreign tourists and pilgrims, missing. Rescue operations remain underway. Jha, whose father was a Nepalese national and who comes from the Mithila region along the India-Nepal border, says, "It's a very sad thing... Seeing this level of destruction just makes me feel like crying." While his family and friends are away from the worst-hit area, he adds, "Baadh udhar bhi hai and danger alert wahaan bhi ho rakha hai." The singer says he also hopes to contribute to relief efforts once he identifies the right channel. Actor Manisha Koirala, who hails from Nepal, urged followers to "pray for Nepal" and shared information on relief efforts. Actor Rohit Saraf, who has Nepalese roots, called the images "absolutely heartbreaking", adding, "Nepal will always be deeply close to my heart." Actor Sonu Sood also offered support, writing, "Nepal, you are not alone," while Nepal-born designer Prabal Gurung said he was "heartbroken" by the loss of lives, displacement and families searching for loved ones....
