India, Sept. 3 -- T he Bombay High Court on Wednesday ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of former celebrity manager Disha Salian, back in 2020. It directed the agency to register an FIR and record the statement of her father, Satish Salian. A bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale also said no person should be treated as an accused unless sufficient material is gathered against them during the investigation. "In case the investigation reveals that no case is made out, then the CBI shall file the appropriate summary report before the court concerned," the bench said, adding that Satish would be at liberty to challenge the report. Disha died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a building in Mumbai's Malad area. The city police registered an Accidental Death Report and claimed that she died by suicide. Satish approached the court last year, alleging that his daughter had been gang-raped and murdered. He accused the police of suppressing facts to protect influential people and alleged that there had been a politically orchestrated cover-up. In his petition, Satish sought a CBI probe into the death and demanded an FIR to be registered against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray.
