Mohali, Aug. 22 -- The Mohali municipal corporation (MC) House will meet on Monday to discuss several key proposals, including development of acompressed biogas (CBG) plant at Samgoli through HPCL Renewable & Green Energy (HPRGE), strengthening ofseveral city roads, regularisation of contract sanitation workers, extension of sewerage services, and changes related tonewly included sectors andvillages. The House will also consider recruitment-related proposals and other civic works. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 11 am on Monday. One of the major agenda items includes a proposal to allot around 15-20 acres ofdemarcated municipal land at Samgoli for setting up a municipal solid waste (MSW)-based CBG plant. HPRGE, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, has approached Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and the MC for the project. The proposed plant is expected to process about 300 tonnes per day (TPD) ofsegregated wet waste, with the waste to be supplied by local bodies. HPRGE has sought a long-term land arrangement and other support, including road access, statutory clearances and assured supply of organic municipal waste. The company has also proposed a concession agreement and long-term lease. The municipal corporation House will also discuss several proposals concerning mechanical servicing and strengthening of roads. These include routes between Phase 7 and Phase 8, Phase 11 and Phase 9, the Mohali Golf Club-IISER stretch, the Police Station-Mohali Pinjore road and other roads where additional bus passes or strengthening works have been sought. The agenda also includes a proposal concerning thewidening and strengthening of certain roads and routes in the municipal area. Another significant proposal relates to sanitation staff appointed on a contractual basis. The agenda refers to government directions concerning the regularisation of services and seeks consideration of the cases of eligible workers. A separate proposal states that 697 sanitation workers were recruited in 2022, of whom 627 were appointed on contract, while 480 contract sanitation workers are currently working in the corporation. The MC House will consider their regularisation as per the applicable government policy. The MC House will alsoconsider proposals concerningrecruitment and appointment of staff, municipal servicesin newly incorporated areas, and civic infrastructure requirements.
