Srinagar, Oct. 26 -- Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday lashed out at National Conference president Farooq Abdullah's claim that Pakistan's continued international advocacy of the Kashmir issue had kept the region safe. Azad said that Pakistan was not a saviour of Jammu and Kashmir but an enemy of the people of the region and the country. "I respect Farooq Sahab, but his statement is completely incorrect. If anyone is an enemy of India and the people of J&K, it is Pakistan. Look at the situation in PoK, where people are protesting for their rights. Since 1947, successive Central governments, from Nehru to Modi, have contributed to J&K's development, irrespective of political affiliations," the former CM said. Azad said that since 1947 when India became independent, Pakistan has been trying to spread terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. "So to say that Jammu and Kashmir is safe because of Pakistan is completely wrong. If Jammu and Kashmir is destroyed, if thousands of youth are killed, it is because of Pakistan. If thousands of women are widowed, it is because of Pakistan," he said....
