At Rakhar Punia fair, political parties make poll pitches
Amritsar, Aug. 29 -- With the Punjab assembly elections around the corner, major political parties on Friday attacked each other at the Rakhar Punia fair at Baba Bakala in Amritsar.
While chief minister Bhagwant Mann highlighted the AAP government's welfare push and flayed the rival parties for "ignoring the state, the BJP, at its maiden conference here, appealed to the people to give the party a chance to form government in the state.
The rift within the Punjab Congress unit was on display once again as party's state chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring skipped the conference, even as former CM Charanjit Singh Channi and leaders aligned with him marked their presence in full strength.
