Bhopal/Jabalpur, May 23 -- Bhopal police on Friday took custody of Samarth Singh, the husband of former model-actor Twisha Sharma, after he had been on the run for over a week, as the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a second autopsy of Sharma's body by an AIIMS Delhi team on the request of her family. Sharma was found dead at her home in Bhopal on May 12, with her family alleging that she was harassed and abused over dowry. Singh, the absconding lawyer-husband, withdrew his anticipatory bail application filed in the high court earlier in the day, and appeared at the Jabalpur district court in the evening to surrender. The Bar Council of India (BCI) suspended Singh from legal practice with immediate effect over the "grave accusations" against him. Earlier in the day, the Madhya Pradesh government issued a notification, proposing to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) -- a move hailed by the woman's family.
