IMPHAL, Feb. 11 -- At least 50 houses in Litan village of Manipur's Ukhrul district were set ablaze on Monday night following fresh escalation of violence that started with a drunken brawl on Saturday, prompting authorities to suspend internet data service for five days in Ukhrul and parts of two other districts with immediate effect from Tuesday. No person has been killed or injured in the violence, officials said. The state home department suspended internet services in Ukhrul and parts of Kamjong and Kangpokpi districts, following apprehension that some anti-social elements might use social media to incite the public. Ukhrul and Kamjong are Tangkhul Naga-dominated district,while Kukis are a majority in Kangpokpi. The home department order suspended internet in entire Ukhrul along with the revenue districts of Lhungtin sub-division of Kangpokpi district and Phungyar sub-division of Kamjong. Tension first erupted in the Litan village on Saturday following a clash between groups of Tangkhul Naga and Kuki communities at Litan Sareikhong.
