3 sent to 8-day police remand in MahaTET paper leak case
Thane, June 29 -- A Bhiwandi court on Sunday remanded three men arrested in connection with the alleged leak of the 2026 Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) question paper to eight days of police custody.
During the hearing, the Thane police told the courtthat Bijender Gupta, a Bihar resident, was the allegedkingpin of the paper leak network and was suspected to have been involved in at least 20 such cases across multiple states.
Gupta and Haryana resident Kapil Dahia, another accused in the case, are currently absconding and have been declared wanted, the police said.
The three arrested accused - Akash Kumar (30) and Rajiv Shah (45), both residents of Patna, and Dhiraj Kumar (28) from Panipat in Haryana - were produced before judge SM Sutar on Sunday. Thane Western Zone ACP Ashok Dudhe said the role of Gupta and Dahia was being investigated.
"We are probing their involvement in the case. Our teams have also been sent to other states for further investigation," he told the court.
The three accused were arrested on Saturday from Kongaon village, located around 5 km from Bhiwandi city. Following the leak, the examination was postponed, affecting more than 600,000 candidates....
