2 UT residents lose Rs.25 Lakh in cyber scams
Chandigarh, July 25 -- UT Cyber Police have registered separate FIRs under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following two online fraud cases where residents lost over Rs.25 lakh. A retired army officer Lt Col Jagtar Singh Multani from Sector 33-A was cheated of Rs.23.7 lakh. Lured by a YouTube ad promising 200 percent returns, he invested through "Qora Trade." Fraudsters shared fake profit letters showing his wallet grew to Rs.92 lakh, then demanded tax via a fake Cyprus Tax Department representative. An FIR has been registered.
In another case, Sector 48-B resident Harpreet Singh lost Rs.1.9 lakh after scammers posing as Adani Gas representatives made him install a malicious APK file and share credit card details, which were immediately misused on Zepto. Police have filed a case .htc...
