Haridwar, July 13 -- Haridwar police arrested a father-son duo from Punjab for allegedly possessing and circulating counterfeit currency, recovering fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs.1.05 lakh from their possession, senior police officials said on Sunday. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into a fake currency racket that came to light earlier this month following the seizure of counterfeit notes in Haridwar. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, superintendent of police (City) Abhay Pratap Singh said police had arrested three persons on July 6 from Haridwar city with counterfeit currency notes having a face value of Rs.84,500. During police custody remand, the three accused were interrogated, leading investigators to two more suspects allegedly involved in printing and circulating fake currency. "During interrogation names of the father-son duo came up,who were involved in printing and circulating fake currency. They were staying in Pathankot, Punjab," Singh said.
