Karnal, Aug. 9 -- A speeding private bus rammed into a car head-on near Jundla grain market on Assandh road in Karnal on Saturday, killing the car driver on the spot. The deceased was identified as Rudramani Sharma, 45, a resident of Gondar village. He worked as a construction contractor for the last 20 years and was driving to Karnal city for work. Around four passengers on the bus received minor injuries. As soon as the accident was reported, the police reached the spot and with the help of locals, retrieved the body stuck inside the damaged car. The body was sent to the district civil hospital for a post-mortem. According to eyewitnesses, the private bus going to Assandh was speeding and the driver lost control. In another incident, two Haryana Roadways buses collided near Bastara toll plaza on NH-44. Police said that a local bus travelling from Panipat to Karnal hit a Jhajjar depot bus from behind, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.
