India, Sept. 17 -- F or astronaut and Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, sharing his journey to space is as important as experiencing it. The first Indian to visit the International Space Station as part of Axiom Mission 4 in 2025, Shukla has recently chronicled that journey in his book, The Second Orbit. His hope is that his experience will inspire others to dream bigger. Speaking to us at the ongoing Gomti Book Festival in Lucknow, the 40-year-old says, "I want my story to be shared with as many people as possible so that more people would know about this journey and could learn from my experience." Ask if the book could eventually make its way to the big screen, and whether he has already been approached for an adaptation, Shukla says, "For now, there is no plan to do so! I want these stories to be shared, be it any medium. Spreading awareness is very important. We need to talk more about it, as children are the future." Urging children to discover the world of books, Shukla says, "What you see in movies and read are two different things. There is no effort in watching a film or series; you just see. For books, you need to make an effort. Text is the same for everyone, but everyone's imagination and way of perceiving it is different, and that opens a world of possibilities." His advice to youngsters chasing success? "We need to take calculated risks in life; only then does success come to you. I hardly said no to any opportunity coming my way!" he ends....
