India, Aug. 20 -- Actor Vaani Kapoor has been subject to a mixed bag professionally this year. While praise has come her way for both Raid 2 and her OTT debut Mandala Murders, the controversy around Abir Gulaal put a dampener on things. Opening up about becoming a target for the backlash, she shares, "You can figure out who you really are when you are at your lowest. It's when you decide if you are going to become cynical, hateful and frustrated because it's so easy to go down that road." In the midst of all the criticism, how did she keep from turning bitter? "I am spiritually driven and know how to bring myself back to centre," she shares, adding, "Also, I do love my job. People have been kind to me, and I value that a lot. Luckily, I've always had a project and a fresh start to look forward to. That's all I can do." While she actively tries to tune out the noise, the 36-year-old admits that social media makes it difficult to let go: "People are free to air their opinions on social media, and sometimes they can be really brutal. I'm also on those platforms, and sometimes it hurts." Vaani continues, "You wonder why some people get personal or berate somebody. But then I ask myself, 'Do I want to give up because I got bullied or do I want to continue?' I have learnt to separate noise from feedback. I still believe in myself, and there are people who believe in me, so I can't complain much. But do I want more? Of course I want better work."...
