Untold story of Saint Kabir's wife takes centre stage in Mumbai

n International Women's Day today, Mumbai's theatre scene will witness a unique cultural presentation as Loi, a play centred on the life of Saint Kabir's wife, takes the stage at Veda Kunba Theater in Andheri West. Two performances are scheduled for Sunday at 5pm and 8pm. The show brings to the forefront the largely untold story of Loi, offering audiences a rare perspective on her life with the revered 15th-century mystic poet Kabir.
Written by Pratap Somvanshi, the play moves away from conventional historical narratives to explore Loi's sacrifices, spiritual insight, and her relationship with Kabir. The production features an ensemble cast, including Mukul Nag, Mitaali Nag, Vikram TDR, Mehreen Saba and Punesh Tripathi, who bring the historical characters and their spiritual journey to life through their performances.
Directed by Akashaditya Lama and Vikram TDR, the production aims to recreate the emotional and spiritual world surrounding Kabir and Loi through a visually engaging stage experience. The play's music is composed by Kuldeep Singh, while its script has been translated into eight Indian languages....
