This Friendship Day, ditch the usual plans for creative experiences
India, July 31 -- Ahead of Friendship Day this Sunday, Mumbaikars and Punekars can look beyond the usual exchange of friendship bands, with a host of experiences lined up to celebrate their bonds. From wellness sessions and creative workshops to quirky art events, organisers are bringing together activities that promise a memorable day out with friends.
Dr Prarthana Shah, doctor and health coach, is hosting a wellness session in Mumbai's Breach Candy on Saturday that includes face yoga and breathwork, followed by a DIY collagen smoothie bowl segment and a fun DIY bath salt bar experience. She says, "The idea is for friends to take time out for self-care, breathwork and relaxing their nervous system."
Meanwhile, Minal Satwani and Amrit Talreja, founders of Canvastherapy, are hosting a workshop in Mumbai's Khar on Saturday where friends can create keepsakes such as crystal phone cases or canvas art pieces for each other.
Minal shares, "Creating art together takes the pressure off typical conversations and screen time. It provides a shared experience where friends can ultimately walk away with a tangible memory of the time they spent."
Pune's Perk Up Paradise Cafe is also hosting workshops where friends can sign up to learn how to make a tiramisu jar together. Priya Patel, a 19-year-old student who has signed up for the experience on Sunday with her BFF, says, "The plan is to learn a new skill together while also celebrating and making memories."
Pune is also hosting another fun event, the Ugly Lantern Street Party, on Sunday at Izipizi Street. Organiser Karan Khilnani says, "Participants will paint a paper lantern and the uglier the better... You're just making a mess together and laughing at each other's ideas! Those shared moments are what people remember the most."
Participant Anurag Pal says, "My friends and I just wanted to be part of the experience where we make questionable artistic choices and still hype each other up."...
