India, Aug. 14 -- India Test captain Shubman Gill was honoured by ICC on Tuesday for his heroics in the recently-concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Gill was named ICC Player of the Month for the fourth time in his career, the title most held by any male cricketer. He edged out England's Ben Stokes and South Africa's Wiaan Mulder to claim the honour. The award came for Gill's performance against England. Leading India in a Test series for the first time, and with seniors Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli recently retired, the 25-year-old smashed 754 runs in 10 innings - the most ever by an Indian captain in a single series and second only to Don Bradman's 801 against England in 1937. "It feels great to be named the ICC Player of the Month for July. This time it holds more significance since it has come for my performances during my first Test series as captain. The double ton in Birmingham is something I will cherish forever," Gill said in an ICC release. He previously won the awards in January 2023, September 2023, and February 2025. Reflecting on the England series, which ended in a 2-2 draw, Gill said: "The Test series against England was a learning experience for me. I look forward to continuing my form in the season ahead and bringing more laurels for the country."...
