India, Aug. 27 -- Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra, known for her lavish and devotional Ganpati celebrations every year, has announced that she will not be holding the festivities this year. The actor, who has been welcoming Lord Ganesha into her home for the past 22 years, shared the update through her Instagram stories. In her note, Shilpa expressed grief and explained the reason behind the decision. "Dear friends, With deep grief we regret to inform you, Due to a bereavement in the family, this year we will not be holding our Ganpati celebrations (sic)," read her statement. She further added that the Kundra family would be observing a mourning period in line with tradition. "As per tradition, we will be observing a mourning period of 13 days and will therefore refrain from any religious festivities. We seek your understanding and prayers," she wrote. Shilpa ended her her post with a devotional chant: "Ganpati bappa morya, pudchyavarshi lav kar ya. (Come early next year).
