Prajakta on viral wedding dance: I did it after many mimosas
India, Sept. 9 -- Prajakta Koli has had an exciting year so far. On the professional front, the actor turned author with the launch of her first book and recently starred in the horror show Andhera. She got married to long-time partner Vrishank Khanal. But it's her impromptu sangeet performance on Mere Husband Mujhko Piyar Nahin Karte that went viral and kept everyone talking.
She quips, "First of all, its questionable that it become a trend. It's sweet, but I did that after many mimosas. Why are people recreating it normally? It's so weird (laughs)."
Sharing the details to what lead to that viral moment, the 32-year-old says, "At our wedding, none of guests shared anything online. But an auntie from Jaipur took this video and by the time it reached me, it had already done what it had to do. But we were just having fun."
She adds, "I know people are looking at the video like it is a trend, but in reality, it was just us having fun. Vrishank and I had a great time at our wedding."
Ask her how life has changed post marriage, and she gushes, "It's lovely. Marriage is too heavy a term, and Vishank and I have been together for 14 years so we've already spent a long time together. But, what's exciting is making a home together and going home to each other. It's been great."
Professionally, Prajakta has stepped away from her girl-next-door image with a horror show. "It's validating when people who are good at their craft, sitting in these rooms of power, take your name as a possibility for a project," she says, adding, "When I started acting, I worried that will I get typecast as the 'cute, bubbly girl'. And if it happened, if there was a way to break it. I'm fortunate that makers of different kinds of stories have looked at me." Ask if she feels pressure to prove her naysayers wrong who think she gets acting opportunities due to social media clout? "I definitely need to prove myself, but not to the ones who doubt. I want to give my best for the community that got me here. My audience are my cheerleaders and critics," she ends....
