India, Oct. 8 -- O lympic medallist MC Mary Kom's ex-husband Karung Onkholer Kom, popularly known as Onler, has filed a criminal defamation case against the boxer over statements she allegedly made about him on television and other public platforms. The case has been filed under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with defamation. The next hearing is scheduled for November 19. Mary had earlier accused Onler of misusing money she earned during her boxing career, alleging that loans were taken in her name, property was mortgaged and assets transferred without her consent. Onler has repeatedly denied the allegations. A source close to him said, "Initially, he thought he would let it go because he only wanted to live peacefully, but his family and friends also started asking him if those allegations were true." Confirming the legal action, Onler tells us, "I have a strong case. I have faith in the judicial system of India. The matter is sub judice, so I won't comment further." Mary and Onler married in 2005. Days after HT City first reported their separation (inset left), Mary publicly confirmed in April 2025 that they had divorced by mutual consent under Kom customary law on December 20, 2023....
