India, June 12 -- Lilly Singh started off as a content creator and went on to become a late night show host in Hollywood and also bagged acting gigs. Recently, she was seen in the show Deli Boys 2, and Lilly insists that her evolving work profile has changed the way people in India look at her. "Years ago, when I used to go to India, people would be excited because I was this comedic personality on YouTube. Now, the reaction is different. People say, 'Your presence in the West is meaningful and the conversations you're having are really important'," she says, adding that the change makes her feel grateful. "Being funny is great, but what's greater is being funny while you're saying something. I want to start important conversations and stand for something. When I come to India now, people recognise that," she says. Professionally too, Lilly acknowledges her evolution. "When I did sketches, I was every department and I did whatever I thought was funny. I was bringing my own ideas to life, but you learn a lot about the creative process when you're bringing someone else's work to life. That unlocks different parts of your brain and creativity. It's made me a better performer," she says. But acting for Lilly is a "constant work in progress". "When I was on YouTube, my whole life was governed by comments and any bad comment would make me feel bad about myself. But now I have enough body of work where that would not phase me as much. I am proud of myself and that drives me forward with confidence," she ends....
