How to protect your skin during daily commutes: Cosmetologist shares summer skincare tips
India, June 24 -- It is well known that dust, pollution, heat, and humidity can take a toll on the skin, contributing to excessive sweating and buildup. With the monsoon setting in across Maharashtra on Tuesday, these environmental stressors become even more pronounced for those who commute daily.
Cosmetologist Dr Sonia Gupta says, "Everyday commuters are in the same cycle of dust, pollution, sweat, and grime, resulting in clogged pores, which leave the skin looking dull."
She shares skincare habits that can counter such effects.
"For people outdoors most of the time, double cleansing may lower the chance of breakouts," she shares. She insists on a gentle end-of-day cleansing routine to remove the buildup accumulated throughout the day.
The cosmetologist shares that lightweight gels, water-based moisturisers and non-comedogenic skincare products help maintain skin comfort without leaving behind a greasy film. Such formulations are also less likely to trap sweat and dirt.
"When you stay outdoors for long in the heat, you might notice redness, sensitivity, and general skin fatigue," she says. She adds, "Aloe vera, cucumber extracts, green tea, and centella asiatica can help calm the irritated surface and give a kind of refreshing feel after a long commute. Also, cooling face mists are kind of a fast fix you can use during the day."
"The thin skin around the eyes and on the lips tends to react to outdoor and indoor stress pretty early. Using light eye gels and more nourishing lip balms can help keep dryness and puffiness away," she ends....
