India, Feb. 27 -- We are in the throes of the World Cup T20 frenzy - that's running from February 7 to March 8 - but not everyone has a stadium seat. That's not dulled the excitement, though. Folks who are unable to head to stadiums are fam-jamming it at home and not just that, the excitement is on a lavish scale, with DJs, larger-than-life screens and catered fare. We got a peek into the fun. Nothing may match the roar of a live stadium, but fans are recreating that vibe within their own four walls. Event planner Dhawal Oza of Dreamz N Ideas, who's planning such a watch party at his place on the weekend, says, "We are getting costumes, whistles, embroidered jerseys and a DJ and even plan to have a tattoo artist to face-paint Indian flags and small tattoos for guests. And if the Indian team hits a four or six, there will be drum rolls; same for when the opposite team loses a wicket." For IT consultant Animesh Arora, it's a drag to get to the bar after office to watch matches, but he's happy to have a cricket watch party jam at home. "I'll be organising layered seating with bean bags on the patio so that no one strains to see the screen," he says, Party planner Krishna Chokhani of Kshitif Events and Party Planners says every T20 and IPL season sparks creative ideas. He shares,"A recent home party had a fun, non-formal sports anchor who just engaged everyone with some cricket commentary and even roasted them to add a touch of humour to the night. In another party, guests indulged in a DIY activity, and made their own cricket magnets." Food plays an important role for style curator Karishma Sakhrani. She's prepping for the India vs West Indies match this Sunday and shares: "Right after the first over, I'm putting out little nibbles of spicy peri-peri paneer popcorn, corn ribs and I'll also serve mini butter chicken sliders and lamb seekh tacos, so no one's juggling a plate when a wicket falls. I'll also prepare nachos in team colours as I like to go all out!" The demand for watch party fare from caterers is already on the upswing, and there's a lot more than just wings and fries to whet the appetite. Informs Swheta Aggarwal of Kookie Cake Crumble, "We've been making a lot of bowl concept creations such as miso sweet potatoes, sweet potato gnocchi bowls, mini cannelloni, khao soy cottage cheese bowls, and broccoli and cranberry salad cups, as well as mini crostinis, caramelised onion tartlets, and corn vol-au-vents." Desserts fit in, too. "Folks love match-inspired themes with mini cricket cupcakes and chocolate tarts with fondant cricket elements, an apt finale to a high-energy evening," Swheta....
