India, May 15 -- The long-delayed Tamil film Jana Nayagan may finally be moving towards release, with reports claiming actor-turned-politician and newly elected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has personally stepped in to resolve issues surrounding what is expected to be his final film before fully focusing on politics. According to India Today, Vijay contacted producer Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions and asked him to return to Chennai from the Cannes Film Festival to oversee the final stages of the release process. Directed by H Vinoth, the film was initially slated for Pongal (January 15) 2026 but reportedly ran into certification hurdles with the CBFC over politically sensitive themes. The makers also suffered a setback after a high-definition print of the film leaked online in April, reportedly causing major financial losses. Meanwhile, Vijay's government recently granted permission for early morning shows of Tamil film Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan (Vijay's rumoured girlfriend).
