Bang Ye-dam on his India debut: The energy here is incredible, I'd love to try Indian music someday
India, Nov. 17 -- Bang Ye-dam recently wrapped up his maiden tour to India on November 1 for the K-Town Festival 3.0. The K-pop singer, often dubbed the 'Justin Beiber of Korea,' says that when he first heard Indian music, he was instantly drawn to it and hopes to try 'the genre' someday.
The 23-year-old shares, "When I arrived at the hotel, I turned on an Indian music channel. Music videos kept playing, and the energy was incredible! It made me think that I'd love to try this genre someday."
Bang also admits that he had always been fascinated by India and its culture. "I really love Indian food and have a deep affection for its culture, so I wanted to experience the unique energy of this place in person," he says.
It's no surprise that music has always been at the heart of Bang's life. He had dreamt of a career in music ever since childhood. "Since my parents (singers Bang Dae-sik and Jung Mi-young) were both involved in music, I grew up always dreaming that I, too, would be doing the same."
Known for his strong vocals, Bang also actively writes, produces, and arranges his own music, blending K-pop with strong R&B influences. "Making the melody is really fun. I think that's what keeps me doing music; that feeling, that joy."
His experience exploring diverse sounds, including Indian music, is now informing his creative journey. He reveals that his forthcoming music will be far more personal: "I feel like it's time for me to talk about something a bit more serious. So perhaps in my next album, you might hear more of those stories."
So, what does success mean for him in this competitive industry? Bang says, "For me, success is being able to keep doing what I love, and being surrounded by good people. Of course, earning money and gaining recognition are important as well, but I just want to live happily."...
