India, June 13 -- Actor Ranveer Singh's exit from filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar's Don 3 snowballed into a controversy, with the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issuing a Non-Cooperation Directive against the actor. While the directive has been withdrawn, the issue continues to make headlines. Now, FWICE chief adviser Ashoke Pandit said that several prominent names attempted to mediate the row. "Many from the industry, including Aamir Khan (actor-filmmaker), had been trying to resolve the issue before it came to us. That also didn't work. Today it's Ranveer Singh, tomorrow it could be someone else. This is what Excel is going through. If it was someone else, they would have gone to hell," he told Hindi Rush. Pandit added that the producers claimed losses of Rs.45 crore: "You may have 10 valid reasons for not doing a film. But if money has been spent because you committed to the project, then those losses should be reimbursed." The controversy has split the industry, with Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk being the latest to defend Singh. He said, "When (Singh) had a few flops, then you (Excel) could have started Don 3. Then they ignored him. Now that Dhurandhar is a hit, they are asking for their money back... Whatever they are owed of Rs.2-Rs.4 crore, take that and move on. Who is going to give Rs.45 crore?"htc...
