LUCKNOW, Dec. 17 -- A woman from Lucknow was found brutally murdered at a house that she was visiting in Barabanki district's Shahavpur area on Tuesday morning, police said. The woman's throat was slit with an axe, and her body was found in the kitchen, they added. A blood-stained axe was recovered near the body.

The deceased was identified as Mamta Yadav, a native of Gorakhpur who had relocated to Lucknow after her wedding in May. The incident came to light around 6 am when Sandeep Yadav, the man whom she was visiting, called police helpline '112' to report the incident.
