India, Sept. 13 -- An athlete died after suffering a medical emergency during the IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin race in Madison on Saturday, organisers confirmed in a statement following the endurance event.

IRONMAN announced the death on its official Facebook page, saying the participant experienced a medical emergency during the race. "We are deeply saddened to confirm that an athlete passed away during today's IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin event after experiencing a medical emergency," the organisers said.
