India, March 31 -- The mayor of Rhode Island's capital city wants a mural honoring slain Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska to be taken down, referring to it as "divisive." The mural, reportedly backed by Elon Musk, is located on the exterior of The Dark Lady, an LGBTQ+ club in downtown Providence. It remains incomplete, WJAR-TV reported.

The office of Mayor Brett Smileytold the outlet that he wants it to be taken down. "The murder of the individual depicted in this mural was a devastating tragedy, but the misguided, isolating intent of those funding murals like the one across the county is divisive and does not represent Providence," Smiley said in a statement.
