India, Sept. 16 -- Popular Illinois TV news anchor, Beni Rae Harmony announced on Monday that she has resigned from the network. Harmony said in a post on X that she was suspended by the network for airing a "non-partisan tribute to Charlie Kirk." The Friday's segment landed her in hot water with the network's management, which, she said led to her suspension.

"Many in the mainstream media have been fired or punished for mocking his assassination," Harmony wrote in an X post. "I believe I am the first to be targeted for honoring him on air."

She added: "My resignation is guided by values that are essential to who I am, which I refuse to set aside in order to keep a job. I choose my faith and love of country, and always will."
