India, April 9 -- Former Nebraska football player Rickey Thenarse was shot in the stomach in South Los Angeles on Friday and rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery, TMZ Sports reported.

According to reports, Thenarse received medical help quickly and is expected to recover.

Details about the incident are still unclear, but sources said Thenarse may have been involved in a love triangle with his girlfriend and the father of her child.
