India, Aug. 24 -- US President Donald Trump's decision to nominate Sergio Gor, a key member of his inner circle, as the next ambassador to India signifies that he wants to keep tabs on the bilateral relationship and have someone in place in New Delhi who will do his bidding unquestioningly. The delay in naming an ambassadorial candidate has not gone unnoticed in New Delhi, especially as India-US relations, built up over the past two-and-a-half decades, rapidly took a downturn over trade and other issues.
