US goes 'tanker for tanker' in attacks on Iran amid renewed strikes in West Asia
India, Sept. 2 -- Amid renewed tensions and exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran, the former hit two Iranian government tankers on Tuesday, according to US officials.
For the first time, the US military targeted Iranian tankers on Tuesday in retaliation for Iranian attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, rather than as part of efforts to enforce the naval blockade.
This, according to a US official, is part of America's "tanker for tanker" approach in the ongoing conflict which got green light from President Trump, reported Axios.
