Kolkata, Sept. 8 -- As the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) held a fresh recruitment test for teachers on Sunday, the noticeable presence of Uttar Pradesh residents among examinees at various centres triggered a political row. A total of 300,000 aspirants appeared for the exam on Sunday for 23,000 posts. WBSSC officials said around 31,000 candidates from other states appeared for Sunday's tests held to appoint Class 9 and 10 teachers in Bengal government schools. Many were from Jharkhand and Bihar as well, they said. Rajkumar Yadav, a resident of UP's Jaunpur district, came to Kolkata to take the written test that was last held in 2016.
