LUCKNOW, Aug. 23 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has informed the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court that between April 1, 2024, and July 31, 2025, a total of 7,630 government primary, junior high, and composite schools across the state were found to be in a dilapidated condition, and their unsafe portions have been demolished. A similar exercise, it said, is underway in the entire state to ensure school safety.

The action has been taken in compliance with the Supreme Court's judgment in the case of "Avinash Mehrotra vs. Union of India and others", the government added.
