Unnao residential school students block road, protest teacher shortage, poor facilities
KANPUR, Aug. 19 -- More than 200 students of Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya residential school in Niyotani under Unnao's Hasanganj tehsil blocked the Mohan-Bangarmau road on Wednesday morning, alleging a shortage of teachers, poor-quality food and inadequate basic facilities.
The students gathered at Mohan trisection and sat on the road, bringing traffic to a halt and causing a traffic jam on the busy stretch.
The protesting students alleged that several subject teachers had not been posted at the school for years, affecting their studies. They claimed the teacher shortage had left their syllabus incomplete and blamed the authorities for failing to address the issue. They said the situation was affecting their education and future.
