India, Aug. 22 -- Two people were beaten to death while another critically injured by a mob in Rewari on Friday evening, police said, adding that efforts to arrest the accused are underway.

According to police, the deceased are Jatin, 22, and Himesh, 20, while the injured has been identified as Yashpal, 21.

The incident took place between 10.30am and 1am on the main road connecting Gokalpur village. The fight started between two groups of students and their friends outside a university in Rewari, following which several men arrived on motorcycles with tape covering their registration plates.

Police said men from both sides were carrying sticks and sharp-edged weapons. After the clash, everyone fled from the university gate.
