India, Oct. 17 -- White House press secretary Katie Zacharia was fired on Friday, barely a week after President Donald Trump picked her for the post, The New York Times reported. Earlier in the day, Trump said he had spoken to Zacharia and felt she did not deserve what he called negative media coverage. He said he had told her, "I think you're better off being happy," and questioned whether she needed the job, adding that he wanted "her to have a good life" rather than be "brutalised by the media".
