Agartala, Aug. 15 -- Tripura chief minister Manik Saha on Saturday said the state ranks second in the Northeast in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and per capita income, while highlighting the development achieved in the state and the country over the past 12 years.

Addressing the gathering on the 80th Independence Day after hoisting the national flag at Assam Rifles ground on Saturday, CM Saha said, "As GDP of our country has increased, simultaneously, GDP of Tripura also hiked. Tripura is now second in Northeast zone in GDP. We also hold second best position in per capita income. Niti Ayog labelled Tripura is the frontrunner state. Our state is second from lowest in law and order sector across the country".
