India, Aug. 11 -- A total solar eclipse will take place on August 12, 2026, bringing a rare celestial event for skywatchers over parts of the Northern Hemisphere. The eclipse will cross Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, northern Spain and a small part of Portugal, while parts of Europe, North America and Africa will witness a partial eclipse.

A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves directly between the Sun and Earth, completely covering the Sun for people within the narrow path of totality. During this time, the sky becomes darker as the Moon blocks the bright solar disk.
