India, April 5 -- A man named Todd Landry, of Jeanerette, Louisiana, has been charged after at least 15 people were injured, some critically, after he drove into a crowd of parade-goers at the Louisiana Lao New Year Festival in Iberia Parish on Saturday, March 4. The incident took place about 2:30 p.m. local time on the corner of Savannaket Street and Melancon Road, according to ABC News.

The event where the tragedy took place was advertised online as a three-day festival celebrating Lao culture with "authentic food, live music, traditional dance, monks' blessings, and water festivities." After the incident, Acadian Ambulance dispatched ten ambulances and two helicopters to the scene.
