Kolkata, May 20 -- Jahangir Khan, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from Falta in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas withdrew from the contest two days ahead of polling in a major embarrassment for the party which was voted out of power in the state earlier this month. Khan, a close associate of TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, said he was withdrawing in the interests of his constituency, citing comments by new chief minister, the BJP's Suvendu Adhikari: "It was my dream that Falta should become 'Sonar Falta'.
