Bhubaneswar, June 3 -- Tigress Zeenat, translocated from Maharashtra's Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in November 2024 to improve the genetic diversity of Odisha's tiger population, has given birth to four cubs in the core area of the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in the state's Mayurbhanj district, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Tuesday.
"Today, a proud chapter has been added to Odisha's natural resources and wildlife conservation efforts. Tigress Zeenat...has given birth to four cubs," CM Majhi said in a post on X.
The tigress had earlier drawn national attention after embarking on a nearly 300-km journey across Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal shortly after her relocation.
