Meerut, Oct. 8 -- A 16-year-old boy was found murdered in Bareilly district on Monday, police said. A day before, he was reportedly thrashed by some men for stealing a mobile phone at a local market.

The youngster's hands were tied behind his back, and his body was found face down in a water-filled ditch near Lohari village in the Bisharatganj area on the Aliganj-Aonla route. Police have detained two suspects for questioning.

The deceased, identified as Asin Raj, originally from Bisakhedi village in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district, lived with his family in a makeshift hut near Bareilly Junction.
