STUDENT groups at jnu spar over dussehra events
New Delhi, Oct. 3 -- Dussehra celebrations on Thursday turned heated amid accusations and counter-accusations between student groups at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
The JNU Students' Union (JNUSU) and Left-wing student groups accused ABVP of "using religion for political propaganda". AISA, in a statement, alleged ABVP organised a Ravan dahan where jailed student activists Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam were depicted as Ravana.
JNUSU joint secretary Vaibhav Meena, affiliated with the ABVP, said, "Ravan Dahan was done at Sabarmati with photos of all naxal leaders... like Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, G Sai Baba, Charu Majumdar."
