Chennai, Sept. 4 -- The Madras high court on Thursday dismissed a writ petition filed by DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin seeking a "100% counting of VVPAT slips" in the Kolathur assembly constituency and, consequently, a declaration that he was the duly elected candidate after nullifying the election of TVK MLA VS Babu. A bench of chief justice SA Dharmadhikari and justice G Arul Murugan held that Stalin's writ petition was not maintainable since the reliefs sought by him amounted, in substance, to a "challenge to the election of the returned candidate".
