India, April 4 -- A State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) officer was killed and his relative was injured in Nagpur on Friday when the boyfriend of the officer's daughter and his accomplices allegedly attacked them with sharp weapons. The incident occurred hours after the officer confronted the boyfriend during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on Thursday night, and five persons including the boyfriend have been arrested, police said.

According to the MIDC police, the deceased, Pankaj Thakur, 42, was an officer of Assistant Sub Inspector rank. He had objected several times over two years to his 16-year-old daughter's relationship with the accused, 23-year-old Akash Haridas Mandal, leading to frequent tension at home.
