India, June 4 -- The San Antonio Spurs did not get the start they would have hoped for in the NBA Finals, as Victor Wembanyama's team suffered a 105-95 defeat against the New York Knicks in Game 1.
Despite the French star putting up 26 points, the highest tally for the Spurs, Jalen Brunson's 30-point performance and the Knicks' collective effort kept them in control, giving New York an early edge in the championship series.
However, Game 1 of the Finals was not only a closely fought contest between two teams meeting on the championship stage after years, but it also featured a chaotic moment in the final quarter that briefly halted play for around a minute.
